Description:

New construction project of pending LEED Platinum 23,000 sq' field research facility. Foresight provided roof system design and construction assistance for this complex intensive green roof project before and during construction. Quality assurance and punch list inspections were also performed for the roofing contractor. Numerous in-field design changes were made to accommodate the various features, including solar panels, light sensors and solar tubes for interior lighting, observation areas, and 12" of growth media and native prairie grass. An electric field vector mapping scan was performed to detect breaches in the membrane prior to planting. This project was the 2010 Overall Innovation Winner of the Excellence in Design Award, given by the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing to acknowledge the development and use of environmentally responsible, high-performance roof systems and technologies.
